Sweet, sweet Gabby!

Gabby is graduating from Arizona State University and I was completely overjoyed to take her senior photos!

I have known Gabby since she was a young girl and have been so blessed to watch her grow into such a beautiful and amazing young woman. She is getting her Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology. She wants to become a police officer and is currently interning with the Phoenix Police Department. One of the highlights of her college experience was studying abroad in Madrid for a school year!

Gabby’s story is one of strength, courage and faith. She has overcome a lot of obstacles growing up and with the help from a strong support system and unconditional love and encouragement from her aunt and grandma, she is so proud and excited to be the first person in her family to graduate from a university.

One of the sweetest moments of our photo session was taking pictures of Gabby holding a sign saying, “Thank you, Nana”. It was very emotional for both of us and I asked Gabby if she would share a little about her relationship with her Grandma:

“My grandma has raised me since I was just a little girl. She would sit down with me everyday and help me with my homework. She would make me read every single day and the older I got the more time and more challenging the books became. She always encouraged me to go after what I wanted no matter how hard or impossible my dreams seemed. She has always supported my decisions with school and I feel like she literally gave me the world when she helped me go to Spain. For me, Spain was a dream that seemed unobtainable but she quickly showed me that with some hard work and determination I could go. My grandma has been very involved in my schooling from the beginning! Over the years I have learned that me graduating is many times a team effort and she has been the best person to have on my team! My grandma has always treated me like her daughter and is one of my best friends! I wanted to take a picture with a sign that says “Thank you Nana” because not only do I want her to know that I am grateful for all that she has done and continues to do in my life but I want everyone else to know as well! I want everyone to see that I was not alone in my college journey and that it was possible because of her love and continuous support and encouragement.”

I am so very proud of you, Gabby! I pray for God’s absolute best as you pursue Him and chase after your dreams!
